USM will be one of the venues of the Latin American Hydraulics Congress in Valparaíso

Professor Álvaro Ossandón spoke about the importance of the congress for the Latin American hydraulics community.

USM will be one of the congress venues

The XXXII Latin American Hydraulics Congress will take place from October 19 to 23 in Valparaíso.

The meeting, organized by IAHR since 1962, is considered the most important gathering of the water science and engineering community in Latin America, and will accept abstracts until March 15.

About the congress, Álvaro Ossandón said: "As a university, and particularly from the USM Department of Civil Engineering, we are very happy to be part of organizing such an important event for the Latin American hydraulics community. This congress is an excellent showcase for the water resources work being done in Chile and at our university." He added that "it is also special because it will be the first time the Latin American Hydraulics Congress is held in Chile outside Santiago. It is also a great opportunity for attendees to get to know and enjoy Valparaíso, a UNESCO World Heritage city and a very inspiring place to discuss the region's water challenges."

What's new

After 12 years, the Francisco Javier Domínguez Conference returns to Chile, held in parallel with the pre-congress courses.

Organized by Sochid, it brings together authorities, academics, researchers and public and private sector professionals from different water-related fields, who present and discuss progress and challenges in the water sector.

Organizers: IAHR, INH, Sochid, PUCV and USM.
